MASONIC PARK

One of the objects of Freemasonry is to assist in every way possible with the welfare of the aged, the widows and the orphans. With this in mind the Masons in Newfoundland decided to establish a Senior Citizens home in St. John's which would be called "Masonic Park". This complex was a joint effort of the District Grand Lodges of both the Grand Lodge of Scotland and the United Grand Lodge of England. Since the formation of the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland Masonic Park is owned 50% by the District Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador, and 50% by the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador

Masonic Park Senior Citizens Complex is surrounded by a wooded area which is situated on a hill overlooking the city of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. (click here for an aerial view of the site). It consists of 220 cottages and apartments and also a 42 bed nursing home. Other facilities include a non-denomiational Chapel and a recreation center. (click here for list of facilities

Admissions to cottages or apartments is open to all on a first come, first admitted basis (prospective tenants should be at least 60 years of age). Admission to the Nursing Home is through Single Entry administered by Community Health and is based on the "Greatest Need".
